Laura Armistead

Fca director

Laura Armistead grew up in South Georgia before moving to Nashville to study elementary education at Vanderbilt University. She later earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. Laura has almost 30 years of educational experience and has taught in public, private, church and home-school settings. She is an author, curriculum developer, teacher trainer and college coach. Because of her passion for equipping parents and students for success, she started a company, YouDoU!, to ease the pressure parents and students feel about the college application and admissions process.

Laura has home-schooled all four of her children for some portion of their education, and each of them attended FCA. She also has served as a volunteer at her church in women’s ministry, children’s ministry, and as a small-group leader. In addition, she has served on the PTO for Brentwood Middle and Brentwood High School.

Laura and her husband, Wade, have lived in the Brentwood area for almost 25 years. They have four children ranging in age from 10 to 21, and a beloved dog named Toby. Laura enjoys reading, cooking, water-skiing, paddle boarding and spending time with friends and family.

Alex Henderson

Administrative Director

Alex was born and raised in England and is fortunate to be able to go back and visit family there regularly. She graduated with Honors from Staffordshire University with a BA in Business Administration. After meeting her husband, Jason, on a joint UK/US Air Force base, she moved to the US 18 months later when they were married. After spending five years in Kansas City, they moved with their two young children, Emma and Jacob to Franklin and have no plans to ever move out of the south.

Alex has home-schooled both of her children from kindergarten, partnering with FCA for their education. While they have since graduated and moved into a different season of education, Alex still passionately believes that homeschooling was a wonderful start for her children and their education.

Alex and Jason were invited to serve on the board in 2016 and continue to serve in that capacity. After some staffing changes in 2020 the Board of Directors asked her to step into the Administrative Director position to manage all business aspects of FCA.

When not serving at FCA or hanging out with her people, you can probably find Alex curled up on the couch drinking tea and planning the next trip to England.
