The History of Foundations Christian Academy

Foundations Christian Academy was started with an idea on a playground.  Within a week of the initial idea, God brought together five families and one dedicated instructor to plan and prepare for a new homeschool academy.  On Monday, June 8, 2009, the kids went to VBS and the moms met for the first time to make lists and brainstorm.  By the end of the week, a name and idea was solidified but many questions were waiting to be answered.   Throughout the summer, obstacles rose and God resolved every single one – not always in the way expected but always in His timing (and sometimes at the very last minute.)  While these families and instructor did the initial planning, 50 families and 9 other faculty members signed on for the adventure and provided encouragement, ideas, contacts, and prayer support!

When the doors officially opened three months later on September 11, 2009, 86 students, 10 faculty members and many parents joined to celebrate what God had put together that summer.  The journey didn’t stop there, however.  God continued to provide exactly what was needed throughout that year academically, financially, and administratively as every step was new and a step of faith.  Ten years later, Foundations Christian Academy has served over 300 families and hundreds of students.  Our families have laughed together, cried together, and supported one another as we all strive to raise and guide our children to honor God.

While we are grateful for all God has done, we believe He continues to have plans for FCA and the families and students who are a part of our program.  Starting in the fall of 2014, FCA expanded to include additional classes at the elementary level. We currently have the capacity to offer two homerooms for all grades. This allows for an increased number of students to participate in our program and, more importantly, allow us to create an environment that can more specifically focus on the developmental needs of 3-6 graders.

Beyond that, we are waiting for God to show us the next step.   What we are sure of, however, is that there are more playgrounds, new ideas, and a God that can do immeasurably more than we can imagine.
