Jan Blalock

Jan Ray Blalock teaches Kindergarten at FCA. She is married (33 years) to her high school sweetheart, Mike Blalock and is Mom to Megan and Will, their two adult children. Jan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Lipscomb University. She also received certification from Gesell Institute of Human Development and feels the information acquired through Gesell has served as a useful tool when assessing young children for kindergarten readiness. Jan is passionate about getting children unplugged, outside and into "The Father's World." Creation is the most amazing curriculum any parent or teacher could be given. It's free! And God...Teacher Extraordinaire!" As  a result of this passion, two "Outside the Wall" days have been established at FCA. This is “Miss Jan's” twenty-fifth year of teaching, 14 years of partnering with homeschool families. When she is not in the classroom, she enjoys long walks, gardening, drinking coffee with friends, and bird watching.



Barb Taylor graduated from Lambuth College with a Bachelor of Music degree and minors in Education and Church Music. Barb is a Mom of six children, and homeschooled them for 17 years. She served on the board of a local homeschool tutorial where she taught grades K-1. Additionally, Barb has written curriculum and developed programs for children's worship at her church for 12 years.  She has been at Foundations for 4 years teaching both Kindergarten and 1st grade..  



Phebe Warnock has an undergraduate degree in Music Education from MTSU, and taught public school music, K-6, in Arkansas.  She instructed her now grown daughters for their early primary years at home. After moving to Williamson County in 1995, she became the Elementary Director of a 2 day homeschool tutorial program, where she served for 12 years. She loves being back in the classroom, and has taught 1st grade since FCA launched in 2009.



Kirsten Ledbetter graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Health.  Kirsten has taught 1st and 2nd grades in public school.  She is a Mom of five children, and has home schooled them for 16 years.  Her youngest two boys attended FCA for three and four years.  In addition Kirsten has served on the board of a local homeschool tutorial.  Kirsten loves teaching children and giving them hands on learning experiences.  She lives in Brentwood with her husband, Phil and their children.



Gina Griswold has been an educator for 18 years.  After graduating from Baylor University, she taught 5 years in the public school system.  The last thirteen years, she's taught for various homeschool tutorials.  Gina and her husband, Jared, have three children whom they homeschool as well.



Clare Rudder earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and English from Baylor University and received a lifetime teaching certification for middle and high school grades from the state of Texas. After teaching high school French for two years then working in the writing lab at a community college, she returned to Baylor, where she received a teaching assistantship as she worked toward a master of science degree in education, focusing on curriculum and instruction. She also took 18 graduate hours in English to add to the MS Ed. She has taught composition and literature classes at several community colleges and on-line. Her passion is teaching writing and creative writing to young scholars in homeschool tutorials, where she has been teaching for the last 7+ years.

Our Instructors for 3-4



Catherine W. Brewer is an experienced educator with a passionate commitment to the development of character and intellect in students. She has 41 years of experience. In addition to her work as a classroom teacher, Miss Brewer has been an administrator; serving as Head of School at four different independent or Christian schools in the Nashville area.



Amy Creech returns to Foundations as the 3rd and 4th grade science teacher.  Her experience in education began in 1995 when she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Learning and Behavior from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction the following year. In her career thus far, she has taught grades K-6 in private, public and home school settings, including a year at a an inner-city school in Memphis and 8 years homeschooling her own children.  Teaching science at the elementary level is so rewarding to her because it is an opportunity to help students understand and appreciate the world that God has created for us to live in. Her hope and prayer is that by teaching in a fun and interesting way the children will never lose their desire to learn and explore. Mrs. Creech's own family includes her husband of 16 years, Buddy, and their three children, Lauren (13), Seth (11) and Margaret (3).



Erin Morales teaches 3rd and 4th grade history.  Mrs. Morales graduated from Anderson University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with an Endorsement in Kindergarten. While in college she was the coordinator of Study Buddies, a tutoring program for inner city children in Anderson, IN.   After college, Erin taught for 2 years in Lawrence Township Schools in Indianapolis, IN. She moved to Nashville after she married her husband Jason and taught 2nd grade at Eakin Elementary School in Metro Nashville Schools. Jason and Erin have been married for 15 years and have two daughters, Madeline (5th grade) and Isabel (1st grade).  Both girls currently attend FCA. For the past five years Erin has been homeschooling her daughters and actively involved at FCA.


Our Instructors for 5-6



Cherri Naile graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers. She taught at Westminster School (now Currey Ingram) for nine years and Benton Hall for three years before leaving at the birth of her daughter, Jordan. When Jordan went to kindergarten, she began homeschooling a former student. She later taught at The Covenant School. Cherri has spent the last eight years teaching in tutorials in Nashville and Franklin.



Kellie Purdy teaches 5th and 6th grade science. Kellie has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of South, and a Masters in Elementary Education from Vanderbilt.  She spent 6 years teaching middle school science in Williamson County, and then worked as a Children's Ministry Director for 6 years.  Kellie is passionate about children, science and Jesus.  She loves the outdoors, music and learning new things. She lives in Franklin with her husband, Mac and their 3 children.



 Mrs. Cosand  loves teaching language arts to young people! She holds a BA degree in English from Malone University in Canton, OH. Thirty-five years ago she married her college sweetheart, Watson, and together they have two children, one son-in-love, and three grandchildren. She taught high school English for two years before starting a family and has taught in home school tutorials and enrichment programs for over 22 years. Her favorite teaching job was that of home educating her own two children for 21 years, a privilege she completed in 2014. In addition, Watson and Anna have enjoyed serving on the board of MTHEA (Middle TN Home Education Association) for the last seven years.
